This distinctive sonic character is the result of an advanced cable design. BSSC38 is the model in the Brown Sugar series from which all subsequent models (including BSSC45, BSSC50, and BSSC95) employ a Multi-Gauge construction, based on conductors with different cross-sections. The design is built around 6N-grade OFC copper (99.9999%) and Spiral Litz technology, and is completed by triple low-capacitance LDPE dielectric insulation and durable gold-plated banana plugs mounted using the Solid Grip system. • Litz construction - Spiral Litz Technology

The Brown Sugar series employs Spiral Litz conductors, in which each of the many individual strands is insulated separately. This design limits mutual interaction between conductors and promotes a more uniform current distribution across the entire cross-section of the cable. As a result, the cable maintains stable electrical parameters across the full audio band. An additional benefit of individually insulated strands is effective protection of the copper against oxidation, contributing to durability and long-term consistency of performance.

• Multi-Gauge Core Technology

As signal frequency increases, current in a conductor tends to flow closer to the surface rather than being evenly distributed across the entire cross-section. This behavior, known as the skin effect, effectively reduces the usable conductor area and leads to higher resistance and impedance at higher frequencies. The skin effect is a well-established phenomenon in electromagnetic theory and has been confirmed by extensive measurements.

Employing conductors with different cross-sectional areas, as used in the Multi-Gauge Core design, helps maintain a more uniform current distribution under dynamic audio signals and varying speaker loads. In practical terms, this results in more consistent cable performance across the audio band, better low-frequency control, and clearer midrange and high-frequency reproduction.

• Solid Grip Technology - crimped termination instead of screw clamping

When loudspeakers are connected to an amplifier using bare wire, exposed copper oxidizes quickly, increasing cable resistance and negatively affecting signal fidelity. For this reason, high-quality speaker cables use properly terminated connectors such as banana or spade plugs. In Melodika Brown Sugar speaker cables, a dedicated non-soldered termination method known as Solid Grip Technology is used. Unlike conventional screw-clamped connections, Solid Grip Technology relies on a precision crimped termination, where the connector is permanently crimped onto the speaker cable using a press. This process tightly compresses all strands together with the connector, eliminating air gaps and maximizing the contact surface. The resulting monolithic structure forms a smooth, uninterrupted signal path, significantly reducing contact resistance.

This solution provides excellent electrical conductivity compared to conventional screw-clamped or soldered connections, which often introduce additional resistance. The result is a reliable and durable termination that is fully resistant to oxidation. Thanks to 24-carat gold-plated connectors, which do not react with oxygen, low contact resistance is maintained throughout the entire lifespan of the cable, ensuring consistent signal quality.

• Twisted conductor geometry:

The conductors are twisted into a spiral braid, reducing loop area and lowering susceptibility to electromagnetic interference. Interference induced in adjacent conductors has opposite polarity and is therefore partially cancelled out. This geometry supports stable signal transmission and a clean, well-defined background.

Functionality

Kable głośnikowe stosowane są do połączenia głośników ze wzmacniaczem lub amplitunerem. Do najważniejszych parametrów kabli należą: przekrój, konstrukcja, izolacja oraz jakość przewodnika. W przypadku głośników o niewielkiej mocy wystarczy przekrój 1,5mm, standardowy przekrój to 2,5mm, zaś w przypadku systemów o dużej mocy zalecamy przekrój około 4mm.

Quality: Why copper purity is so important? The signal which is running through the guide should encounter on its way as little obstructions as possible. In case of low purity copper the amount of impurities which must be bypass is large. Then we can say that the signal has to go through a real slalom. In the purified copper, electrons run straight to the goal, so the sound is not distorted. Moreover, there is another argument. Copper impurities include oxygen atoms. They cause oxidation. Produced copper oxide which is much weaker conductor than the proper copper. In this way the conductivity deteriorates which obviously affects the sound.
